North Coast Aquatics is the largest competitive swim team in San Diego County and has been the highest achieving swim club in San Diego County for the last 2 decades. Over the years, NCA swimmers have won medals in international competitions around the world for several countries including gold medals at the Olympics, Pan-pacific, world championships. Eight (8) NCA swimmers qualified for the USA Olympic trials in 2008 and 10 qualified for the 2012 Olympic trials. Over the past 34 years, NCA has helped place over 240 of its swimmers into major colleges across the country. Jeff Pease- Head Coach

Head Coach Jeff Pease has directed North Coast Aquatics since 1979. Jeff has coached Olympic and National Champions as well as over 270 Junior National and Senior National swimmers, while sending over 240 swimmers to major colleges across the country. Jeff has established North Coast as the premier swim program in San Diego County and one of the strongest in the United States, being awarded Gold and Silver Medal status with USA Swimming's Club Excellence program since 2004. As a result of his coaching accomplishments, Jeff has been a member of the United States National Team coaching staff since 1997 and has coached USA national team trips in Sydney and Melbourne Australia and Barcelona Spain. Jeff coaches and mentors Mia Thomas, Heloise Leblanc and Mia Ryan in the senior squad.

 

 

 

Mickey Murad- Senior Assistant/Age Group Coach

Mickey has been coaching for NCA since 2012. He swam competitively for Head Coach Jeff Pease in the late 90s as a middle distance freestyler, butterflyer and backstroker. During his high school career Mickey was named an All-American, became a 3-time Jr. National champion and was invited to attend USA Swimming's National Select Camp. In 1998 he earned a full scholarship to Cal-Berkeley swimming under legendary coaches Nort Thorton and Mike Bottom. During Mickey's time at Cal he became one of the premier middle-distance freestylers in the country, swimming to several US National Finals, was an All-American and held world ranking. After his collegiate career Mickey came back to NCA assisting Coach Pease. Mickey was named San Diego Age Group Coach of the Year on 2012. Mickey coaches and mentors Mia Thomas, Heloise Leblanc and Mia Ryan in the senior squad.

 

Michael Galindo- Senior Assistant Coach/Age Group Coach

Coach Michael has been coaching for NCA since 2012. Michael began his swimming career with the York Swim Club in Northern Virginia under Coach Greg York and continued on to swim for the legendary Jon Urbanchek and Bob Bowman at the University of Michigan. Michael was nominated the captain of his Michigan team in 2005 and swam internationally for Puerto Rico qualifying for the 2002 Pan Pacific Championships in Yokohama, Japan in the 100 and 200 Backstroke. Michael was selected by the American Swim Coaches Association to be a member of the 2011 Fellows class. Michael has been a San Diego Imperial Zone Coach for the past three. Michael has received San Diego Imperial Swimming's Age Group Coach of the year for two years running. Michael coaches and mentors Mia Thomas, Heloise Leblanc and Mia Ryan in the senior squad.

 

 

 

Rob Mackle- Age Group Coach

Rob was a Michigan High School State Champion in Swimming and played high school football. Rob was a four year Letterman and Team Captain at Indiana University under legendary coach "Doc" Councilman. He was a Senior National and NCAA qualifier in freestyle events, competed for Team USA in 2 world triathlon championships and was a top finisher in the Hawaii Ironman. Rob has many years of experience coaching youth sports, swimming and football. Rob coaches and mentors Tegan, Anna, Lindsay and Erin in the Age Group squad in Carlsbad.

Nate Chessey- Age Group Coach

Nate hails from the sunny state of Maine and joined North Coast Aquatics in April of 2009. Before NCA, he was the Lead Coach of the 10 & Under program, Senior Assistant, and the Lead Coach of the Dryland program for all competitive groups for a club team in Houston, TX. Prior to his work in Texas, Coach Nate did his Masters work at Springfield College studying Sport Performance. While at Springfield, he was an assistant coach for the men's and women's swim team, while also coaching the local age group club team.Coach Nate spent his undergraduate years at The University of North Carolina - Wilmington, where he studied Sports Nutrition.Nate coaches and mentors Tegan, Anna, Lindsay and Erin in the Age Group squad in Carlsbad.
