The Support Crew
The Ocean's Seven team will be supported by a group accomplished coaches, open water swimmers, athletes, doctors and dedicated parents who will follow them very closely throughout their preparation and their crossing to provide them with an optimal environment for success.
The support crew is led by Michella Thomas who is a well known figure of the open water swimming community in San Diego. She completed the Catalina Channel crossing in solo in 2013 as well as the Maui Channel crossing and the Bridge to Bridge 10 K. She will be supported by Sally Taggart, a former swimmer and world class triathlete, as well as Mathias Leblanc, a former long distance swimmer in Canada. Doctors George Brooker will be the team physician. The team will also count on the support of world renown open water swimmers from the San Diego area.
The team has chartered the Bottom Scratcher, an 18 foot Chase Boat and his Captain Greg Elliot to escort and support the swimmers throughout the crossing. Greg Elliott is recommended by the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation and has been piloting for Catalina swims since 1991.
